District Students Place in Spelling Bee

Four Ouachita Parish Students in Top Five

Four Ouachita Parish students placed in the 2018 Origin Bank All-Parish Spelling Bee.

Gauri Vashisht of West Ridge Middle won 1st place and will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Gauri is our first Ouachita Parish student to win this honor!

Hannah Schaitel of East Ouachita Middle School won 2nd place, Saikiran Guruprasad of Claiborne Elementary won 4th place, and Jacob Green of Ouachita Junior High placed 5th.

The Origin Bank All-Parish Spelling Bee hosted students from each school in the area. The competition began with 47 spellers and lasted 31 rounds. Congratulations to the following school winners of the 2018 Spelling Bee who competed at parish level.
